RR40 – Saturday 30th April 2016

Who remembers attending their first Ram Roast?

This year sees us celebrate 40 years of our annual fundraiser and we are planning some special events to celebrate its anniversary.
It’s had various stalls, sideshows, attractions and venues over the years but prides itself on providing a great community event for all ages to enjoy.
We would love to hear your stories, memories and pictures from Ram Roasts over the years and hope you will join us this year to celebrate it’s 40th Anniversary on Saturday 30th April for RR40!
Please email info@2ndcheadlescoutgroup.co.uk with any pictures or memories you may have from over the years.

We are bringing back an ‘old favourite’ stall for RR40 called Crazy Kitchen! For this we need lots of old crocks – plates, tea cups, bowls, saucers, tea pots etc that can be smashed up with wooden balls on the stall. Please have a root in your kitchen cupboards, we would be delighted to find a new home for them at this years RR40. No winning prize just lots of fun smashing up old crocks! Anybody with contacts in the hospitality industry that might be able to help, we’d love to hear from you.
Donations can be dropped off at our HQ on The Paddock, Off Brookfield Road, Cheadle SK8 1EX or drop us an email to arrange collection.

Group Bonfire & Firework Display

Members of 2nd Cheadle Scout Group are invited to a Bonfire and Fireworks event at our HQ on Friday 7th November 2014.

The Bonfire is lit at 7pm and finishes at 8.30pm with parents invited after 8pm to join the fireworks finale.

This event is only for members of 2nd Cheadle Scout Group.

Remembrance Service and Parade

On Sunday 9th November we will join the Churches and other Organisations in Cheadle for our Remembrance Day Parade and Service at the Cenotaph on Cheadle Green.

This is one of the few occasions when our entire Scout Group comes together and the event is watched by many hundreds of Cheadle people. We hope you will make every effort to join us, to mark your respects and also show everyone that Scouting is alive and flourishing in Cheadle.

We all meet at Massie Street car park, Cheadle at 10.20am on Sunday 9th November and ask that all members come smartly dressed in full uniform, so please ensure you wear warm items of clothing under your shirts or jumpers. School trousers and cleaned polished shoes, not trainers please.

The whole parade will form up on the car park and leave, led by a band at 10.45am walking down Massie Street to Cheadle High Street, then onto the Cenotaph. St Marys Parish Church will join the parade at the Massie Street/Cheadle High Street junction. The congregation of St Cuthberts and St Chads Churches on Stockport Road will also be joining the event. They will walk from their Churches to meet the main parade in time as it reaches the Cenotaph. If you would like to join St Marys, Trinity Church, St Chads or St Cuthberts Church services prior to the parade then you are most welcome to do so.

During the service, members will have the opportunity to place their poppies down if they wish. Poppies can be placed down in a row of planter boxes, which will be placed on the grassed area in front of the band. Please follow the direction of your section leaders. As the service ends, the parade will move off and pass a saluting base by the pelican crossing in the High Street. We expect to be back in Massie Street car park and dismissed for around 11.30am.

Trinity Church welcomes us all in for complimentary tea, coffee, squash and biscuits after the parade in the Church Hall.
